Helpful Tips

Here’s the scoop to help make your studio experience as enjoyable as possible.

  1. You are welcome to arrive any time up to 15 minutes before the start of your class.
  2. If another class is in session before the one you are attending, please either wait until that class is done or come in quietly.
  3. Allow yourself time to arrive a few minutes early so you can be relaxed and enjoy the whole class.
  4. Please remove your shoes once you come in the building so that we can keep the studio clean.  If you are attending a dance class, please bring non-street shoes to change into if needed.
  5. Turn off cell phones, beepers, watches, etc.  If you have an emergency or are on call and need to keep a phone or beeper with you, please let the teacher know.
  6. Inform the teacher of any injuries or recent health issues before class.
  7. Wear comfortable clothing.  Yoga is practiced in bare feet, but you are welcome to wear socks during the class centering or during relaxation.
  8. Yoga feels best on an empty stomach.  Refrain from eating 2-3 hours before class.  If you must eat something, eat lightly.
  9. In consideration of those with chemical sensitivities, please refrain from wearing heavy fragrances or scents to class.
  10. We provide yoga mats and props, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
  11. Enter with an open mind and heart for yourself, your body and others.  There may be some things that are new or unfamiliar, and it can take time and practice to get used to the postures.  Learn to tune into your body and keep in mind that yoga is all about self-love and self-acceptance.  Do what you can and know that we are skilled and able to work with various body limitations and restrictions.  There are always ways to modify the postures to make them work for your body.  And if not, you can simply take a break if there is something that doesn’t work for you.
  12. Yoga is not a competitive sport!  🙂
  13. Please ask for any help you need, and let us know how we can support you.
  14. Be patient, have fun, and enjoy the adventure of Yoga!  Yoga is an amazing journey and a wonderful practice that can support you throughout your whole life.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
